Handforged hammer forged in charcoal-fueled forge, inspired by Mästermyr finds
It is made from wrought iron body with forge welded steel face and cross peen bit
As traditionally high-carbon steel was an expensive resource, hammers and other heavy tools would be shaped from soft iron and faced with high carbon steel to give them toughness against wear and damage.
After all forging and heat treating (normalized, quenched, tempered), it is cleaned and polished, then deeply etched to bring out wood pattern of wrought iron
As any handmade item I make, this one too has imperfections that give it unique character
The face can be made into ball peen or flat
The handle material would be Ash as that was most commonly used (Other woods can be used, please ask me)
I can do different finishes on hammer, you can choose between etched(pic 2,3etc) blackened (pic 1) and forged finish
This listing is made, for example, it is a custom work so 4-12 week waiting to complete should be expected
